Decorative Wall Panels

First Coat of Paint on New Panelling

Panelling is a vintage decoration, which adds a classic look to a room. It comes in many styles with different types of mouldings. It can be put anywhere to create the exact, unique look you want.

The Victorians used it often around windows with shutters or around doorways to cover the brick or stone walls.

Panelling has come back into fashion. The modern way is with no mouldings inside the panels, essentially plain rails, which are painted after installation. Now people will panel an entire wall from floor to ceiling or the bottom half of the wall in squares. This can be achieved easily using MDF rails. An American style of panelling is to not fix any rails at all, but to fix mouldings directly to the walls, which can be used to frame things like pictures. This also looks nice and is an easy way to add decoration to the wall.
